Francis W Southwell  (1774–1842)

According to an extant fragment of the 1821 Dublin census, Francis was aged 47. His wife was named Elizabeth and listed as living with them were two daughters, Elizabeth and Olivia. His address was given as 135 Mecklenburg-street and his occupation as Professor of Music.

He was a prolific composer whose works, both orchestral pieces and songs, were published both in Dublin and London by various music publishing houses.

In 1809 he was working as a pianoforte manufacturer at King’s Arms, 34 Marlborough-street, Dublin.

A Dublin newspaper notice placed on 3 November 1842 announced the death of Frances, second daughter of the late Francis Southwell of this city on 1 November, thus establishing that Francis had died by this date.
